On Saturday, April 30th at the Dia De Los Niño’s Celebration held at Washington Park it was an event that I look forward to every year. They had several jumping balloons, face painting, and games for the children. The entertainment included dancers from the community.
Vendors had tents, and food trucks were available for food, snacks, and drinks. The main event that attracts visitors to Washington Park every year is the Tent by the El Paso Public Library where members of the community line up for the chance to receive free books. The two lines of persons waited for their turn. The variety of books may interest anyone from children, teenagers and adults.
Towards the end, when people were given a chance to get five books for free. As the line died down people were walking away with boxes full of books. This was astonishing to see the eagerness people had to read.
As people walked around while watching performers or watching their kids paint on easels they would put their boxes full of books on the ground to rest. It was great to see an event dedicated for children and watching them have a good time with their parents.
